West country lupins are a robust family of these ever popular plants, featuring sturdy flower stems over hefty clumps of dark green divided foliage. ' Manhattan Lights', named for the skyline at dusk of that famous city, has predominantly purple flowers with yellow regularly interspersed. Rather magnificent really, very hardy and will grow just about anywhere given a humus rich deep soil and a moist but well drained site. Flowers June to July, but may second flush if spent flowers spikes are removed. Can grow to 90cm tall by 45cm wide. Protect crowns from excessive winter wet and slugs.
