Sanguisorba minor (Salad Burnet)

Regular price £3.99

Sanguisorba minor is better known perhaps as Salad Burnet, traditionally used to flavour salads, and as a general cooking flavouring.  When crushed it's toothed leaflets give off a distinct cucumber aroma.  Elegant clumps of mid green foliage can get to 1m high if left undisturbed and spread to half a metre or so.  The unusual knobbly clusters of pink crimson flowers are absolutely adored by all sorts of insects, making this a great plant for a wildlife garden, naturalising in a meadow, or just as a foil for other showier perennials in a mixed border.  Perfectly hardy it is happy in most soils and most conditions, provided it is neither too wet or dry.  Generally untroubled by pests or diseases.
