Veronica spicata 'Royal Candles'

Veronica spicata 'Royal Candles' is a clump-forming perennial to 60cm with narrow, toothed leaves and tapering spikes of tiny, star-shaped, violet-blue flowers in summer.  Great for softening the edges of borders, this variety of Speedwell is hardy throughout most of the UK, although would prefer a sheltered spot in more exposed locations.  Growing to c 30cm x 30cm it needs a moist but well drained soil in a sunny position.  That said it's survived a winter on a north facing hillside in North Yorkshire!  Great for pollinators, especially as it can flower for almost three months in the summer.
