A large, well formed traditional shrub rose of antiquity, forming a frame of up to 150cm x 100cm or so, of grey green foliage. Large creamy tinged buds open to form impressive loosely ruffled and rumpled balls of soft pink, creamy tinged petals with a wonderful old scent aroma. It flowers only once in the season, but worth its place in the garden for the scent alone. Hardy and robust this shrub is useful in many settings, and makes a particularly good informal hedge. Said to be the rose that first inspired the famous rose enthusiast and breeder Peter Beales.
