Sweet Cicely - Myrrhis odorata
This is a strongly aromatic hardy perennial with hairy, feathery leaves and attractive white umbelliferous flowers which turn into striking seed heads. Use fresh leaves for cooking with as they will reduce the amount of sugar required. May also be used in soups, stews and salads. The leaves are also good for mild digestive disorders and coughs. Use the whole ripe seeds with apple dishes as an alternative to cloves.
