Description
RUBUS idaeus RASPBERRY Tower 'Hara Rasp'
A ground breaking new variety bred in Japan, which develops thick overwintering stems which can be trained into a central' trunk' supporting a crown of fruiting branches. White blossom in spring and an abundance of tasty and highly attractive fruit make this a decorative as well as an edible feature in any garden. Can also be grown in a pot.
Planting:
Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant 45cm (18in) apart in rows 1.2m (4ft) apart. Plant in a sheltered spot in a well-drained but moist, fertile soil in full sun or light shade. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the root-ball or pot. Mix an organic soil improver and general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established.
After care:
Fruit is produced on the previous year’s cane. Cut back fruited canes after fruiting to allow room to train in new canes.
