DESCRIPTION
Lovely bright range of flower colours on bright green foliage. Compact habit with flowers held well above the leaves.
Height: 15cm (6")
Hardy perennial
WHEN TO SOW
May to July
WHERE TO SOW
Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed seed compost in pots or trays. Leep at a temperature of between 15-20°C (59-68°F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Germination will usually take 14-30 days. As soon as you see the seeds start to chit (germinate), lightly cover them with vermiculite.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions in a cold frame or sheltered part of the garden for a few weeks before planting out in the autumn in borders spaced 15cm (6") apart or plant into containers for autumn/spring colour.
MATURITY
March to May the following year.
HANDY TIP
As the natural habitat is woodland, a sheltered spot that never dries out is preferable. Can also be used as a pot plant.
