Magnolia x soulangeana 'Lennei'
A lovely magnolia with magnificent large goblet or tulip shaped spring flowers in April-May which are highly fragrant with dark pink outsides, fading to white inside. Ocasionally 'Lennei' will flower again in autumn. The elongated ovate leaves are up to 25cm long, beginning bronzed red and developing to mid/dark-green in spring and summer.
Growing to a relatively large bush, Magnolia x soulangeana 'Lennei' will reach around 6 x 4 metres after 20 years. Magnolia are best planted in a sheltered position in full sun or semi-shade, with a relatively well-draining soil, but out of strong winds.
Sometimes referred to as the Pink China Magnolia.
