Magnolia Susan is a small, slow growing cultivar which is good for garden use, as it will often only grow 2 to 3 metres maximum high and wide. It features beautiful and large goblet shaped flowers up to 12cm across wich are a rich purple red colour on the outside, with a paler inside. Flowering slightly later in spring than other magnolias, it can avoid the frost damage so often suffered by other varieties. Can be grown in a large potas well as a statement piece in a large border. Needs neutral or acid soil conditions, in full sun or partial shade. Holder of an RHS AGM.
