Magnolia soulangeana 'Black Tulip'Sold Out
One of the most dramatic Magnolia's around, 'Black Tulip' features an abundance of more or less the deepest purple pink flowers yet cultivated on a magnolia. The flowers are a cupped shape (like a traditional tulip), can get very large - up to 15cm in diameter - and because of their closed shape they stand up to the weather a little better than some of their more open cousins. Large oval mid green leaves appear after the flowers. Magnolia soulangeana species prefer a neutral to acid soil that is moist but well drained. 'Black Tulip' can in time reack 4m or more high and wide, but takes 20 to 50 years to reach maturity. Supplied in a 10 litre pot, and grown as a single stem standard c120cm tall.
