An immensely variable colour range, with two shades of a single colour and contrasting bo-colours. A true cottage garden flower. There is little to rival a mass planting of lupins with their tall spikes glowing with colour in May and June. Height 90-110cm.

Soak seed overnight in warm water before sowing. Place seed on the surface of good free draining compost and cover with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite to the seeds own depth. Place container in a propagator or a warm place at a temperature of 15-20°C (59-68°F) until after germination, which usually takes 18-21 days.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into pots and grow on in cooler conditions before planting out 30cm (12") apart. Over winter September sowings in a cold frame and plant out the following spring.

Lupins are tolerant of most soils and are at their best planted in groups of 5 or 6 plants.
