Also known as Yellow flag iris, this native european plant is a vigorous and striking bog or wet garden staple, quickly forming large clumps of broad swordlike leaves, variegated in yellow and green vertical stripes, topped with canary yellow iris flowers.   Thrives in wet or damp conditions, so perfect for streamside or the banks of ponds in full sun to half shade, where it will quickly establish colonies c 100 to 150cm tall by 45 to 60cm across.  Flowers in May and June, useful as a cut flower, and extremely hardy.  Holder of an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
