The large elliptical shaped berries of Honeyberries are similar in colour and taste to blueberries, with a slight after taste of honey. The fruit is very high in antioxidants, loaded with flavour and retains flavour and form when frozen. Very hardy, drought resistant and easy to grow with the added benefit of being virtually pest and disease free. Unlike blueberries they don't require a specific soil condition, but they will fruit better if two different varieties are planted together. A large and free branching variety of Honeyberry, 'Giant's Heart' is a relatively late fruiting cultiver ripening in early to mid July, and needs Honeyberry 'Strawberry Sensation' which flowers at a similar time as a pollination partner. This bush is capable of producing up to 4kg of large, sweet and juicy berries, great for eating fresh, freezing, or even turning into wine.
