Hemerocallis is known as the Daylily, as each magnificent flower lasts only a day before disappearing. However, the size and colour of the blooms, and the number an established plant will produce, make this a small issue. Day Lillies are easy to grow, being happy in most soil types and conditions. 'Mauna Loa' can get to 60cm high and spread, and has wonderfully spectacular gold amber trumpet flowers from June through to August. The leaves are evergreen and straplike. An established clump can be revived every few years by division. Requires moist and fertile soil in full sun for best results.
