French Sorrel - Rumex acetosa

A hardy perennial which produces large clumps of long leaves and tall striped flower stems with smallish flowers in June and July.  Always use young leaves.  They make a delicious soup when combined with potatoes and onions and may also be added to stews, vegetables and omelettes.  Young leaves may also be cooked like spinach but use an enamelled pan.  Can grow to 150cm x 60cm.
