Red Cascade is a large shrub, which can grow to 3m x 2.5m if left unchecked in a situation which suits it. It has mid green elliptical to lance shaped deciduous leaves, but it really comes into it's own in autumn when the leaves turn spectacular shades of vibrant red before dropping. In midsummer insignificant flowers appear, but they are followed by georgeous pink/orange winged fruit, which last long after the leaves have dropped to create real interest in early winter too. Performs best in full sun, but will grow in partial shade too on any reasonably fertile soil provided it is well drained. The orange seeds which emerge from the fruit are attractive to some birds who will enjoy them in winter. Holder of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit.
