Often known as Sea Holly, Eryngiums are a striking feature plant for the front of a sunny border, or in a pot, with their blue thistle like flower heads in mid summer. Blue Hobbit is a shorter variety, growing to 50cm x 50cm, with rich blue thimble shaped flowers surrounded by steely blue spikes on short and well branched stems which rise over a basal rosette of green oval leaves. Makes a good cut flower, and is attractive to pollinators. Grows in any well drained soil in full sun or light shade. May take a little time to establish well, and resents root disturbance so choose your site well!
