Also known as Coneflower, due to the very prominent central discs, Echinacea are particularly good at attracting pollinators, and also make good cut flowers. Mama Mia is an erect and sturdy perennial bearing large daisy like flowers up to 10cm with petals emerging red from the buds before turning orange then fading to pink, surrounding a conical bronze brown centre, on sturdy stems to a height of c65cm from July through to October. Will spread to about 45cm in time. Cut back and cover with a deep mulch in late autumn to protect the overwintering crown. Will tolerate all types of soil provided the drainage is sharp. Will not like sitting for a long time in very wet conditions in winter
