Dryopteris filix-mas 'Crispa Cristata'
This a fabulous fern, with it's erect and slightly arching fronds, crested at the top with a wavy and ruffled effect on the edges, It's a native in much of the Northern hemisphere, often colonising the edges of woodland, the banks of streams and other shady, moist areas. It can grow up to 90cm tall where it is happy so cuts a really impressive dash, and combines well with brunnera, pulmonaria etc to create interest in a shady part of the garden. Semi evergreen, the plant can be tidied up in spring, just as the new fronds are emerging in their vivid green coils. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
