The Magic Fountains series of delphiniums is a relatively compact type of this popular garden perennial, so more suited to the smaller garden. When in flower the spikes will reach circa 80cm high and it will clump to about 40cm across. Rich lavender coloured semi double flowerheads, with a contrasting white eye adorn the spikes in June through to August, but if cut back after flowering may well produce a second flush. Protect the new shoots from slugs and snails when emerging in spring and the plant is best staked when the flower spikes are just beginning to grow. Plant in full sun or partial shade in any rich, moist but well drained soil.
