Ceanothus 'Trewithen Blue' aka Californian Lilac is a fabulous evergreen large shrub or small tree with profuse, rich blue, fluffy candyfloss like flowers emerging anytime from April onwards through to the end of June. They are very much liked by bees and butterflies when in flower bebause of the prolific blooming habit. Whe not in flower this shrub gives form and structure to a bed and the dark glossy leaves make a good foil for other flowering plants. A little on the tender side Ceanothus require a sheltered location, and in the North are best grown as a wall shrub against a sunny wall. Requires good drainage and a fertle moist, but not wet soil.
