Brunnera Sea HeartSold Out
Brunnera is a genus of the Boraginaceae family, they are rhizomatous perennials which die back to the rhizome to over-winter. They are native to Eastern Europe and North West Asia. They have hairy, heart shaped leaves which can have cream edges or silver colouring. Sprays of little blue flowers appear in the spring. Brunnera are ideal for for ground cover in shady spots in the garden where they make a good alternative to Hostas, being less susceptible to slugs and snails. Take care to ensure they are planted in good, free draining soil as they have a tendancy to rot in heavy wet soil.
Brunnera macrophylla 'Sea Heart' has silver heart-shaped leaves with bright green veining with delicate sprays of little blue flowers.
