Alpine Strawberry - Fragaria vesca

A very hardy perennial, this variety is a strong flavoured one, especially attractive as a garnish.  It also makes delicious jam and needs no added pectin as a high level is naturally present in the fruit.  The fruit is also high in vitamin C, and a nice tea can be made from the leaves which is said to be a goood natural tonic.
