A very popular houseplant dating back to the 1960's. Also known as Elephant's Ear, and Amazon Mask, amongst other popular names, Alocasia polly is an evergreen plant with large and colourful shield shaped leaves emanating from robust upright stems. In terms of care it can stand a little light, and a little shade, so in that respect is pretty unfussy. It needs watering little and often, wand a misting once in a while is also very beneficial. Let it dry out a little in winter, and don't worry too much if it loses a few leaves - these should be replaced with new ones as spring arrives.
