Actaea japonica 'Cheju-do' is a slender and compact form of this plant. Deeply divided clumps of palmate leaves give rise to tall and slender racemes of white 'bottlebrush' flowers in summer, which can be 60cm or more tall. Happy in any type of moist but well drained soil, and where happy can spread up to 100cm. Very hardy and needs minimal care other than possibly staking in exposed sites, and cutting back after flowering.
