A very free flowering variety of this perennial herbaceous plant, Rudbeckia fulgida Deamii has masses of bee friendly bright yellow daisy like flowers with prominent brown central cones, from late summer through to mid autumn, over clumps of slightly hairy mid green leaves. Best planted in groups or drifts, in the middle or towards the back of a perennial border, this plant can get as high as a metre tall, and spreads over time to almost half a metre wide. Likes a sunny position in any well drained but moist soil: it doesn't really suit very dry soil in the summer whilst still actively growing. Best to support the plant before it grows too tall using canes and string, brushwood, or a nice purpose made plant support.
Flowers: Aug to Oct.
Grows to approx. 100cm high and 50cm wide.
Likes a sunny spot in well drained soil.
Attractive to bees and other pollinators.
