Primula Millers Crimson
Japanese Primrose. A perennial with large green crinkled leaves which form from a basal rosette. Stout stems with tiers of large open crimson flowers in late spring and early summer, rather like a candelabra, hence the common name of candelabra primrose. Grows to a maximum of 80cm x 45cm, and looks great when planted in groups.. This rather lovely plant flowers in May and June, and is particularly useful in damp and partially shaded areas such as the edge of a woodland, in a bog garden or by the side of a stream or pond. Likes full sun to fairly shady conditions and is perfectly hardy, in most moist soils which are neutral to acid in composition. Water thoroughly before planting.
