Penstemon digitalis 'Dark Towers'

A really unusual form of this popular and useful perennial, Penstemon 'Dark Towers' features deep olive/ burgundy red foliage and stems, amongst which the sprays of bell shaped pinky white lavender flowers hang daintily and seductively.  Hardy throughout most of the uk in most soil types, although disliking very wet winter soils, penstemon should only be cut back hard once the risk of frost has all but passed.  Left unchecked 'Dark Towers' will reach c 75cm high and 30 to 50cm wide, preferring a sunny or partially sunny, sheltered location.
