Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum' is a summer flowering ornamental thistle, bearing brilliantly deep purple thistles on long, leafless stems. With spiny, dark green foliage. as it is rather tall it will work great at the back of a border or even in amongst other tall perenials. grow in well drained soil in full sun after flowering cut them back to aviod self seeding
