Angelica archangelica is a very old perennial herb, often used in medications as well as for culinary uses, chief amongst which was the candying of the pink flushed stems for baking purposes. A very architectural plant in it's own right, with the large leaves and umbels of tiny lime green flowers making a dramatic statement at the back of a border, mixed with grasses, or in a wildflower garden. Particularly good for wildlife, Angelica is a lovely plant for anyone who has room in the garden, as a mature plant can be up to 2m high and wide! Will grow well in any moist soil in full sun or partial shade, and is perfectly hardy.
