This is a shorter version of the perennial bonariensis, much loved by garden designers, and as such a little more suitable for the smaller garden or for pots and planters. 60cm x 60 cm or so, it features the smae lavender pink 'bobble' flowerheads on multi branched slender stems, making it just as airy and ethereal as it's parent. Prefers a well drained location in full sun. Just as the flowers are loived by bees, butterflies and other insects so are the seed heads attractive in winter and a source of food for wildlife. Don't rush to cut them off, rather let the seeds dry and either harvest some to re sow, or allow them to seed themselves. verbena bonariensis is not hugely hardy, and whilst it will survive most avergae ones it mat not survive a really cold one (or it might - such is the fun of gardening!)
