Heart achingly beautiful, Sidalcea 'Elsie Heugh' is a clump-forming deciduous perennial boasting elegant spikes of silky, shell pink, fringed flowers, reminiscent of hollyhocks but much more elegant. Blooming from mid to late summer, sometimes lasting into the autumn, Sidalcea 'Elsie Heugh' makes short spires of flowers 60 -75cm tall over neat rosettes of mid green roundly scalloped leaves. It prefers any moist but well drained soil in a sunny position, but can be short lived in heavy soils. The common name of Prairie Mallow harks to it's natural habitat. The flowers are attractive to pollinators, and the plant is pretty easy to grow and short on pests and diseases. Can be divided every few years, if necessary.
