A shorter variety of the ever popular helenium family, reaching c 75cm tall by 60cm wide in time. Helenium Mardi Gras features large orange flowers, which turn red as they age, on sturdy stems held above neat clumps of mid green foliage. Likes full sun, and a well drained but moist soil, where this plant will dazzle for weeks in mid to late summer and early autumn, if deadheaded regularly. Popular with pollinators, this plant is ideal at the front of a herbaceous border, in a smaller garden for impact, or even in a patio pot. Very versatile and reliable. Split every three years or so to rejuvinate and invigorate the plant.
