Also known as the Flagpole Cherry, Prunus Amanogawa is a great cherry for a small garden. Masses of semi double pale pink flowers, highly attractive to pollinators, appear in mid spring, followed by spear shaped mid green leaves, which flare in autumn to vibrant shades of copper, red and yellow give this upright tree all year interest. Likes a sunny spot in moist, but well drained soil, and can slowly grow to 8metres tall by 4 metres wide in 20 years or more, but is also easily pruned to keep it smaller. Holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit.
