'Golden King' is a small bushy evergreen holly tree or shrub with broad ovate, slightly spiny leaves margined with bright yellow. Despite it's name Golden King is a female plant, and will produce small red berries sparsely scattered, if in close proximity to a pollinating variety. Fairly fast growing, and makes a large bush (or tree) in time (up to 7m if left unpruned) Golden King makes a very impressive statement in the right setting. Fully hardy, flowers in spring, berries in autumn and winter, and will grow in any reasonably moist, humus rich but well drained soil.
