A really useful variety of salvia, which flowers for months in the summer between June and September. The long slender pink flowers, with a darker streak, combine beautifully with many other colours, and are highly attractive to pollinators. A tall and willowy plant with glossy elliptical mid green leaves this one gets to 75cm, and grows quickly, so can be easily used as a gap filler. As with many of the salvia family it is only half hardy, so in cooler areas is best grown in a pot which can be overwintered under glass, although may last several years outdoors in a sheltered spot if given a deep mulch each autumn. A bit of a show stopper, it would still give very good value if only grown as an annual! Salvias are relatively easy to root, so a few late cutting overwintered on a windowsill are always good insurance.
