Also known as 'Wand Loosestrife', Lythrum 'Dropmore Purple' is a tall but sturdy perennial growing to c 100cm x 60cm. Likes a moist soil, so is good as a waterside plant, or even in a bog garden, but is also comfortable in drier soils as long as it gets good sunshine. The tall spires of bright and striking flowers are held above the bright green lance shaped foliage and are very attractive to pollinators, appearing in June through to the end of August. Cutting back hard after flowering will sometimes produce a second flush.
