John Innes composts have had a special place in British gardening since the original design of the recipes in the 1930's. Originally based on a blend of loam, sand and peat, the John Innes Manufacturers' Association, with the approval of Trading Standards, has recently incorporated peat free versions within it's rules, acknowledging a growing understanding amongst the industry and the public of harm to the ecology caused by large scale peat farming.
Ideal for potting on established plants, houseplants, and for vegetable plants in containers. Friable and free flowing texture.
