Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood' is a long standing garden favourite, holding an Award of Garden Merit from the RHS, which is easy to grow and tolerant of neglect. The roundish, slightly fleshy leaves are bright green in spring, with burgundy edges, which become more purple through the summer, before flaring to a bright red in autumn. Evergreen, it thrives on dry poor soils, and will grow to about 10 to 15 cm high and can spread 30 to 35 cm wide if allowed. The small deep crimson starry flowers in summer are fantastic for attracting pollinators. Will inhabit cracks and crevices in paths, but also great in pots, on rockeries or at the front of sunny borders.
