Salvia x sylvestris 'May Night' (Mainacht)

A hardy member of the perennial sage family, Salvia x sylvestris 'May Night', aka 'Mainacht' makes a loose clump of fragrant, textured green leaves, larger than the nemorosa types, but similar in appearance, smothered with spikes of indigo blue flowers in  early and mid summer.  In sun or partial shade on any moist but well drained soil 'May Night' will grow anything up to 75cm x 45 cm, where the cherrfully coloured flowers will brighten up and complement and mixed planting scheme.
