A low maintenance, but highly architectural rhizomatous perennial with stunning purple black foliage, Actaea 'Chocoholic' produces spikes of small pink flowers in late summer and early autumn, which are tinted purple in bud from mid summer, which are simply adored by all pollinators. Ideal for a slightly heavy soil in a partly shaded position, but can tolerate most soils and most aspects. Formerly known as Cimicifuga, and commonly known as Bugbane.
