Bergenia 'Winterglut'

The neat clumps of leathery rounded leaves start in spring a fresh bright green, gradually darkening to a deeper shade in summer then turning ruby coloured with purple undersides in winter.  In spring spikes of small shocking rose red pink flowers make for a very colourful show.  Grows up to about 50cm high and can spread to c 30cm.  Grows well in any soil but very dry or very wet, and will suit any aspect.  Happy in full sun or partial shade, but the leaves always colour better when in sun.
