A vigorous, upright, robust plant for use in mixed borders in sun or partial shade. Vibrant spires of bright scarlet trumpet shaped flowers with white throats in July and August sit above massed spear shaped green leaves. As with all penstemon leave spring tidying of old and straggy stems until the risk of harsh frosts has gone.
